Moya: Some new old tracks just released.

Moya, an artist from Belarus with some nice post-rock stuff that tends to lean more towards the classical end of the musical spectrum, has just released their 4th album...a collection containing seven older, previously unreased tracks. And it is available as a free download on Last.fm.

Sneak Preview: Matt Stevens - Relic

Matt Stevens releases his third album Relic on the 26th September, the follow up to the critically acclaimed Ghost. It was produced by Kevin Feazey (Lydia Lunch/Polar Bear). It features guitar instrumentals with additional drums, bass, strings, glockenspiel and Mellotron. Guest musicians include Stuart Marshall (Fierce And The Dead) on drums and Chrissie Caulfield on Violin (Crippled Black Pheonix/Catscans).

The release of the album will be followed by live performances across the UK and beyond. Relic is released on Matt's own label Spencer Park Music. Many of the songs were written during a period when Matt seriously injured his back and was confined to the floor of his home.

Matt Stevens is an instrumental guitarist from North London. He has created a following online using Facebook, Twitter, Torrents, Forums and a network of enthusiastic Bloggers and Podcasters and viewers on Ustream for streaming online gigs. He has often asked his followers to copy and torrent his music to allow the audience to grow through word of mouth. His music has been described as prog/soundtrack/folk/minimal instrumental post-rock and compared to Radiohead, John Fahey, Robert Fripp, Wilco, Sigur Ros, John Martyn and Tom Verlaine, amongst others. The song titles often relate to where he grew up in rural Northamptonshire, moving to London or 80's computer programs.

He often plays solo acoustic concerts armed only with a guitar and a loop pedal. He has played live all over the UK including support slots at Islington Academy, The Great Escape in Brighton, Supernormal Festival and festivals in Liverpool and Blackpool. He also plays guitar in critically acclaimed post-rock band The Fierce and The Dead who released their debut this year. Recent positive press includes Acoustic Magazine UK, R2, Classic Rock Presents Prog, Alarm Press and Guitar Player Magazine US.

Kwoon - I lived on the Moon

Normally I only post instrumentals, but I think I can make an exception for this one. It is not possible for me to love and share this enough times.

It may be difficult to understand without a listing of the lyrics, so here they are:

Dear little lad
Here's the story of my life
I lived on the moon (2x)
Grey flying snakes along
Mountains of destiny while
The three tailed moneys
Were drawing the stars
Light from the Sun and I
Hide myself on the dark side, alone
I've run so far
To find my way
Then I dream again.. alone

Dear little boy, listen
To voices of your soul
It showed you the way of
Silence and peace
Follow your thought and fly
Choosing all the things that you desire
Giant waves, fireflies..
Your dream will be your only shell
Your secrets, your hiding place, my son
Don't let them try
To crush your brain
Let you go far
..my son

Brand New Album: Fierce And The Dead - If It Carries On Like This We Are Moving To Morecambe

The Fierce And The Dead release their long awaited debut album on the 16th May, the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut EP from 2010. Featuring Matt Stevens - Guitars, Kev Feazey - Bass/synths/production and Stuart Marshall on drums the album has been recorded over the last year. Nick Cave/Faust/Lydia Lunch saxophonist Terry Edwards features on two tracks. The album is dedicated to close friend Dan Wilson who passed away during the making of the album. There are 10 songs, all shorter than the one on the first EP (although that song was 19 minutes long). The album is released on their own Spencer Park Music label and they are looking forward to touring in the summer, dates to be announced soon.

Once again, they are allowing you to name your price. If you like it, be generous.
